I find trials to be super important!

Trials allow for peace of mind, a chance for us to connect and, most importantly, will allow us time to consult and collaborate on the makeup look you want to bring to life for your special moment- PRIOR to the day!

I get to take notes/pics, get your feedback in the moment and on how it wears after your trial. I am able to add this feedback to my notes so it's an easy switch on the BIG day!

Day of, you just show up and sit back!

Let's talk trials!

It’s best to schedule your trial 1-3 months before your event. By then, most of the details of your event will be set, you’re somewhat settled on your colors, theme, and accessories and will be able to feel more confident discussing the look and vibe you would like to capture in your makeup.

Makeup trials are 90+ minutes.

Available Monday - Thursday.

By appointment only.

To schedule a trial, please email Shari.h.dutkin@gmail.com

Your Pre-Trial Prep Work

Check out makeup images on IG, Pinterest and google. It is a great way to start discovering makeup looks that fit your style. If you still aren’t sure, its ok, that is what a trial is for! Together, we will collaborate to figure out what would work best for you and your individual taste. With years of experience in many kinds of makeup scenarios, you are in good hands!

On trial day, come with a complete clean, bare face! You can do your skincare routine if you'd like, however, during your trial, we do it all- from skincare prep to full makeup application. Wear a similar color to what you will be wearing at your event and bring any accessories you plan on incorporating! That way we can style you as realistic as possible to give you the complete makeup vision!

Brides to be, I like to suggest booking your trial on the day of your dress fitting, if possible. It’s a great way to see how the makeup will complete your look. Engagement photoshoots or pre-wedding day parties are other good times to do your trial so you can see how the makeup photographs. 1 trial is covered for the $150 deposit. If you have other makeup needs, photoshoots/parties/extra trials, etc leading up to the event date, the rate would be discounted $100 per event.

Any waxing/tweezing/threading and advanced facial treatments should be done 3-7 days before your preview trial and before your event. If spray tanning/self tanning, make sure to deeply exfoliate before your tan so the product doesn’t stick to dry spots and develop patchy. Allow time for tan to develop and be sure to shower prior to makeup application. Aim to tan a few days before your trial and event.

Taking care of your skin is vital to achieve fresh, natural looking makeup. Exfoliate, hydrate, tone and moisturize! Ramp it up leading up to your special event- trust me, it makes such a difference with how makeup sits on the skin and It’s much easier to cover discolorations and blemishes than texture! 😁

SDDM uses high quality skincare and cosmetics products with proven track records and natural, healthy ingredients whenever possible. Skincare prep and product selection is based on skin type of each client, desired makeup look and weather, as that also effects the skin and wearability of makeup. All makeup and tools are cleaned and sanitized prior to and following each appointment and in-between each client, if applicable. Disposable tools will be used when possible. Your makeup will be comfortable, long lasting and will wear until you wash it off- (which is SUPER important to do even if you don’t want to wash your face at the end of the night!) Only touch-up you’ll need is your lipgloss!
